THE NICKEL ROCK PROJECT
WHERE WOODWORK MEETS WILD GAME

PROJECT DETAILS

When approached by Brush Country Studios and Prairie Mountain Wildlife to create taxidermy cabinet bases for Nickel Rock’s office space in Central Texas, we had no idea what this project would become. This simple task quickly evolved into a full-scale collaboration — one that allowed Tin Roof to leave its mark on nearly every corner of the space.
As the project grew, so did the vision. From rugged trophies to warm wood and custom metalwork, the NickelRock project crafted a space where tradition meets unmatched Texas wood craftsmanship! Wild hunts, bold designs, and genuine Texas-made quality is in every piece of this project — and we couldn’t have been more honored to be a part of it.
Where It All Began: Handcrafted Bases For Wild Beauty
The Nickel Rock project began with a call from our friends at Brush Country Studios and Prairie Mountain Wildlife. They were designing a series of taxidermy displays for the Nickel Rock office and needed custom cabinet bases to bring the vision to life. These bases would serve as the foundation for the larger design story unfolding in the space.
Each base was created with Pecan wood, incorporating shaker-style paneling paired and paired with black metal strapping. The bases complimented the rugged yet refined look of the taxidermy displays and tied in seamlessly with the overall aesthetic of the space.
This project could not have been possible without our close relationship and collaboration with Brush Country Studios and Prairie Mountain Wildlife — we are so thankful for them thinking of Tin Roof to create custom woodwork to help display such incredible work!
Once our collaboration began, Caleb and Holly’s vision for what Nickel Rock could look like expanded from taxidermy cabinet bases to custom furniture, indoor and outdoor embellishments, and more. This project wasn’t just about creating a collection of pieces, it was about transforming an office space into a fully immersive environment that reflects Nickel Rock’s values and spirit inside and out.
Project Transformation: Both Inside and Out
Outdoor Support Pieces
The outside deserved some Tin Roof love, too! We added heavy wood timber beams, support beams under the awning, and Tongue & Groove ceilings.
Front Reception Desk
Made from Pecan wood, a heavy I-beam riser, and black metal strapping, this piece perfectly ties together the industrial and natural elements found throughout the space. Integrated LED lighting adds a modern touch, making the front desk both a functional workspace and a bold first impression for visitors.
Wilderness And Woodwork
Our custom pieces seamlessly complemented the office’s taxidermy displays, blending tough Texas wood with wild taxidermy to create a cohesive and visually striking environment.

Custom and Collaborative Desk Space
This multi-person desk space not only is bold in design, but in functionality, too! Made from Pecan wood and steel strapping, this piece does anything but blend in. Through the addition of l-beam dividers, we transformed the desk’s capabilities. Not only does this unique design allow for individual focus by subtly separating each section, it also encourages a space for collaboration and shared creativity — all at the same time.
Uniquely Designed Desks
From herringbone designs to a combination of metalwork and black strapping, each desk is completely unique yet still incorporates the overall vibe of Nickel Rock's office.

THE CENTERPIECE OF EVERY MEETING
No office space is complete without a place where big ideas come together — for Nickel Rock, that space is anchored by a table as bold as the work being done around it.
The Conference Room Table is more than just a piece of furniture — it’s a statement. The table, made from Pecan wood sourced from a Stephens F. Austin log and nearly 60 gallons of epoxy, quickly became the focal point of the space. Getting this 16’ X 7’, 2,500 lb table was no small feat — with a crew of 14 people, every hand was on deck as we carefully planned the logistics.
Despite our numbers, simply lifting and maneuvering it required a near-heroic effort, as we had just inches of clearance to navigate tight doorways and corners. It was a true test of teamwork, coordination, and sheer determination.
Once it was finally in place, the relief was real — and so was the pride! This table isn’t just functional, it’s unforgettable, and is a true reflection of bold design, careful craftsmanship, and a little bit of muscle, too.

Building More Than Just Furniture
This project wasn’t just meaningful for our client — it meant a lot to us at Tin Roof. What started as a simple request for a few taxidermy cabinet bases quickly grew into a full-scale transformation, including custom desks, cabinets, conference tables, and more. The result? An office space brought to life with tough Texas wood.
Thank you, Caleb, Holly AND the entire Nickel Rock team, for allowing Tin Roof to contribute in creating an amazing workspace for you all to enjoy.
